· Use the octane grade recommended for your vehicle by the manufacturer.
· Follow the 1/2 tank rule: Do not let your tank get too empty before purchasing gas, this will keep you from having to buy at the closest station instead of the cheapest.
· Strive to find the lowest priced stations on your normal travel patterns. Do not drive miles out of your way to save a couple of pennies per gallon-you'll burn up your savings getting to and from the station.
· Take advantage of stations running cents off promotions if you do not have to wait in long lines for the deal. Remember, don't be fooled by the myth of "brand name" gas.
